Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a host or a co-host? What is the eligibility?

Host refers to any user who created the room. Co-host is a user who is invited by the host to the room as a guest. Itsy host/co-host should be at least 18 years old, or at least 13 years old and have a parent's permission to proceed creating rooms. At the moment every Itsy user in the US is eligible for creating the rooms.

How much will I receive per participant if the room is paid?

As a host there are two fees associated with your services on Itsy. The first is the platform fee, which by default is 30%, if not agreed otherwise. The second is the payment processing fee, which is dependent on the currency selected by the host, although at a beta stage the only currency we operate in is the United States Dollar ($).

The payment processing fee in US Dollars is 2.9% plus $0.30 per successful pledge for pledges over $3, and 5% fee plus $0.10 per successful pledge for pledges of $3 or less.
Depending on the host's location, some banks may charge a foreign transaction fee for payouts. Itsy does not control this charge, but it is typically around 3.0%.

How will the money be transferred to my account?

We rely on Wise bank for payouts. Every host should have their emails up to date, since the transfer will happen through the user email address. If the host has a Wise bank account and if the user used the same email for both Wise and Itsy, the funds will be transferred directly to their Wise account. If the host does not have a Wise bank account, Wise will contact the host through their verified email address to request their bank details, and the transfer will be directed to their specified bank account. Payouts will occur once every two weeks. There may be some delays due to international transaction regulations, but we will do our best to provide the necessary information to avoid delays and ensure timely payment to the host.

When will funds raised from the room be reflected on my balance?

After the room is completed, the funds that the host has raised will be in a pending state for the next 24 hours before they are transferred to the payout balance. During this time, any funds that are reported and not yet resolved by our team will remain in a pending status until each issue has been resolved by our team.

We may also block or hold payments for violations of our policies or for compliance reasons, including collecting tax reporting information. When payments are blocked we try to communicate the reason to you promptly. If you have questions about a payments block, please reach us at payouts@itsy.dev.

Can I cancel a room after people have already paid?

If a room is canceled, the host will be charged a fine of 5% of the total funds raised for that room and their profile rating will drop. The same fine will be applied if the host does not participate or starts the room more than 10 minutes after the scheduled time. In rare cases, applied fines may result in a negative account balance. In such instances, we reserve the right to recoup the negative balance from future payments. Repeated cancellations of rooms may result in the suspension of the host's account.

I paid for a room but the host canceled it. How do I get reimbursed?

In case the room gets canceled we will reimburse the amount to your profile spending wallet instantly, ready to be used. However, users would have to contact us on refunds@itsy.dev if they prefer to receive the refunded funds to their bank accounts, which takes up to 4 weeks to be processed.

The host did not show up. How do I get reimbursed?

If the host does not start the room within 10 minutes of a scheduled time, the funds are to be refunded, although unlike room cancellation this process is not instant, user feedback always helps our team to identify such occasions in a timely manner.

The room ended earlier than expected or the host behaved inappropriately. What happens then?

Users can request a refund through our reporting system, although requests may or may not be approved by our team, depending on the actual situation. Each participant has 24 hours after the room completes to file a report for that room. Our team will review every case, the process may take up to 2 weeks.

Is my information shared/sold with a third party?

We never sell your information to third parties. Nor do we share information that we collect about you to third parties, if it is not needed to perform our base functionalities, for example: payouts, where we do need to share your email and name to Wise for bank transfer.
